In 2006, Brandon was replaced (after a long period of time of dreaming of the Wipers, Sleater-Kinney, and Huggy Bear) with Rob Goswitz, previously of the Dio-influenced The Men Who Control The Weather. Rob brought a tightness and interestingly, a fairly "professional" sound to the band.
During this time, Baby Guts decided to "officially release" Gasoline on Minneapolis label Guilt Ridden Pop, home of Maps of Norway and Superhopper. The album, released in May of 2007 and by then though a couple years old, was received very well and Baby Guts enjoyed basking in the glow of being a promising local band.
Baby Guts soon grew antsy to release new material. After months of local shows and small tours around the Midwest, they set to work writing their newest album, to be titled The Kissing Disease. Recorded at Pachyderm Studios in December of 2007 by Neil Weir of Chambermaids fame, The Kissing Disease highlights Baby Guts' more dynamic songwriting. After what felt like the longest winter, it was finally released on Guilt Ridden Pop in May of 2008.
Now, in July of 2008, Baby Guts has found a new drummer in Benjamin Montreuil, of St. Paul-based Albini-influenced Canaveral (now defunct) and currently in sweat-drenched late-80s throwback punk band Les Deux Magots with his younger brother. With his from-the-heart-not-the-head drumming style, laid-back attitude, and astonishingly similar music tastes, Ben fits perfectly into the Baby Guts mold, who are all now as snug as a bug in a rug.
Future plans include writing new material, releasing a new 7", and touring the coasts.
